Beginners was so great, guys. Someone give this move all the awards. I understand that there is a lot of calculation re: what goes into the Oscar nominations, but I enjoyed this movie leaps and bounds more than Tree of Life and War Horse.
On the other hand, Beginners has Ewan McGregor, Melanie Laurent (Inglourious Basterds) and the magnificent Christopher Plummer; generational angst and textured family relationships; two sweet love stories; and a dog who communicates via subtitles. So. Really, one of the best, most delightful movies I saw this year.
